Yarn of the Month February

01 February 2010
The Yarn of the Month for Februray is Karabella Aurora 8.  Aurora 8 was our first Yarn of the Month several years ago when we started the program.  I feel like I should have a bumper sticker that says,  I Aurora 8.  It has been and continues to be my desert island yarn.   That and a pair of needles (ok, and maybe a self-charging Ipod) would be all that I’d need.  So many of you learned about the joys of Aurora 8 when we first introduced it.  Since then, it has become one of our best-selling yarns. Now, I want the rest of you to appreciate it as much as we do!

Aurora
8 is a scrumptious worsted weight superwash merino yarn.  Merino is the softest of the wool categories, so Aurora 8 feels like butter when you knit it and feels like heaven next to your skin. A skein is 98 yards and knits at a gauge of 4.5 stitches to the inch on a US 8 needle.

Aurora
8 comes in dozens of beautiful solid colors and several mélanges.  Once you have enjoyed the luxury of working with Aurora 8, I predict you will want to knit with it forever!  Enjoy Aurora 8 during the month of February at a 10% discount.

Our kit of the month is the beautiful Aurora 8 Ribbed Hat and Scarf, in your choice of colors.  It takes just 6 skeins of
Aurora 8 to make this wonderful project for your favorite cold person.  Trust me, they will be forever in your debt! Enjoy the Aurora 8 kit of the month during February at a 15% discount.

Monday Weather Update

01 February 2010
Your intrepid Sisters have found their way to the shop, so we are open!  Depending on ice conditions, we may close at 4:00 today; we will make that decision later on and post it.  It might be best to phone if you are planning to come out this afternoon.  Be careful out there.

Yarn of the Month for October

30 September 2009
The Yarn of the Month for October is Rowan Kidsilk Haze.  If ever a yarn existed to wax poetic over, Kidsilk Haze is it!  Smooth and silky, it practically knits itself off your needles into magical, airy, gossamer objects that will make you smile!  Kidsilk Haze is a yummy blend of 70% Super Kid Mohair and 30% Silk that knits from 4.5-6.5 sts/inch on a size US 3-8 needle, depending on whether you knit it single-strand or doubled.  Each 25 gr. ball contains 229 yards of lustrous wonder.  Kidsilk haze comes in 38 intoxicating colors; the only problem you’ll have is deciding which to knit with!  We have several beautiful shop samples knit in Kidsilk Haze for your viewing pleasure, including a simple one-skein scarf.  Enjoy Kidsilk Haze during the month of October for 10% off.

Now, I need a little fanfare here.  The October Kit of the Month is … well … unbelieveable.  When Kat and I saw the Rowan sample at our trade show in June, we swooned a little.  The Wentworth Cardigan is a Kidsilk Haze Lover’s Dream project.  Designed by Kaffe Fassett, using 16 different colors of Kidsilk Haze, Wentworth is a stunning striped cardigan.  Our shop sample was beautifully knit by Meg.  Kat has been working like a yarn-crazed maniac to divide skeins of the Kidsilk Haze that is needed in small amounts to bring the price point down to a comfortable level for you.  Wentworth is the Kit of the Month and can be enjoyed for 15% off! A wonderful, beautiful project.

Yarn of the Month for September

01 September 2009

Noro’s Cash Iroha is the Yarn of the Month for September.  Although often overshadowed by its famous, glamorous sister yarns (Silk Garden and Kureyon), Cash Iroha is a lovely yarn in its own right.  Made of 40% silk, 30% lambswool, 20% cashmere and 10% nylong, Cash Iroha has 100 yards per 40 gram ball, and knits at a 5 to the inch on a US 7 needle.  We love Cash Iroha’s almost two-toned solids; it makes a beautiful garment, hat, scarf or mittens.  We especially like to blend a little of solid Cash Iroha with the striped Silk Garden; it really makes a lovely touch.   Enjoy Cash Iroha during the month of September at a 10% discount.

The kit of the Month for September is a lovely sleeveless sweater from Noro Book 22.  We are offering this flattering sweater in 2 colorways:  lime and burgundy, both great fall colors.  Buy a kit of the month during September and realize a 15% savings on the yarn.  Kits come with enough yarn to knit up to a size medium (or a size large where indicated) and a copy of Noro 22.
